Still, people selling cars, motorcycles electronics and even those claiming to be debt collectors from the cable company and the IRS might ask you to pay with those gift cards that operate like cash. It’s a scam, says the Federal Trade Commission, and by the time you realize you’re not getting your end of the deal, the money on your card is spent and gone forever.

Too bad those scammers can’t do the same for the extra weight.
